My name is Robert Johansson and I'm 34 years old. I work as teacher in math and science at a junior high school east of Stockholm. Before I started working as a teacher I was an environmental consultant; working with renewable energy and environmental friendly prouct development. After that I went to Nepal to participate in an enivornmental project but when I arrived at the village the project was canceled. I wanted to do something for the village so I asked the teacher at school if I could teach english instead of working in the project. He thought it was a great idea and I really enjoyed it. When I came back to Sweden I continued working as a teacher.
I've always been fascinated by the arctic regions and I think it's a great opportunity for me to participate in this expedition. It will also be an great inspiration for my students to benefit from this expedition and I hope that I can motivate them to take a more active part in the polar areas and environmental issues. My school will among other things make a documentary about this journey which we will show to our students. We will also participate in a network about education for sustainable development this autumn; we will use as much of the scientific information we can obtain from this expedition. I'm really looking forward to participate in this program!
