The lasting stamina of geophysics

Plates & Gates is an international research campaign dealing with continental drift and its influence on global climate.

Scientists on bord of RV Polarstern are investigating global climatic history. Until April 11 they will travel from Punta Arenas (Chile) along the east Antarctic to Cape Town (South Africa). On their way they will take samples and measure whatever gets in their way in order to get a glimpse on our climatic past.
